"Quanzhou: Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China" gained its UNESCO World Heritage status recently. The new entry includes 22 sites and monuments across Quanzhou,encompassing religious areasand statues that witnessed multicultural communities, archaeological sites reflecting the city's structures, iron and ceramic production sites key to its thriving commerce, and a transportation network formed by bridges, docks and voyage-guiding pagodas. The serial site illustrates the city’s vibrancy as a maritime emporium during the Song and Yuan periods (10-14th centuries).
