This national memorial, established in 1987, honors the Chinese people's heroic struggle against Japanese aggression from 1931 to 1945. Featuring captured Japanese weaponry, artifacts from the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, and tributes of notable martyrs, its extensive exhibits offer a compelling historical narrative.

The memorial offers a crucial window into a pivotal period of East Asian history, specifically the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Japan’s 1874 invasion of Taiwan and its subsequent 50-year colonial rule from 1895.

Visitors can explore a comprehensive collection of over 25,000 artifacts, including historical documents and objects, which shed light on the military, political, economic, cultural, and social dimensions of these events. The memorial’s collection if international, featuring contributions from across China, the United States, Japan, and other locations, reflecting the global signifcance of this hitory.

Commemorations are held regularly at the memorial to mark Victory Day of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (Sept 3), the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims (Dec 13), and the global fight against fascism.
