Jilin's Xinhua Bookstore redefines reading spaces

The Xinhua Bookstore in Northeast China's Jilin province has undergone an incredible transformation, emerging as a vibrant cultural landmark in the city. No longer just a traditional bookstore, it offers diverse reading experiences, modern spaces, and innovative literary events.

The North Study Room, one of its five newly designed specialty rooms, is housed in a historic Manchukuo-era railway library, where poetry and history intertwine. Push open the antique copper doors, and you're instantly transported to another era.

The Summer Study Room is an oasis of calm, surrounded by greenery and mist, offering a serene escape for book lovers. Visitors can browse cultural products or sip coffee while enjoying a good read.

These bookstores go beyond selling books; they blend history, leisure, social interaction, and art, becoming cultural beacons for the city. Looking ahead, Xinhua Bookstore plans to renovate 10 county-level flagship stores and expand its presence in universities and museums.
