With the rapid growth in new energy vehicle (NEV) ownership, China's charging infrastructure development has entered the fast lane, with local governments accelerating the improvement of charging infrastructure networks across the nation.

In East China's Fujian province for example, where private economy thrives, grid operators are advancing the development of EV charging infrastructure to accommodate the swift growth in NEV uptake.

While Xiamen city added 610 public charging piles last year, achieving the highest charging facility density in the province, Fuzhou has constructed 6,000 public and residential charging piles in 2024, injecting strong momentum into local economic and social development, according to State Grid Fujian Electric Power.

The infrastructure has contributed to promoting a clean and low-carbon energy transition, facilitating the consumption of clean energy and improving energy utilization efficiency, it said.

This is part of Fujian province's "Dual Satisfaction with Power Supply Service" dedicated to helping optimize the local power-related business environment. In addition, the regional grid operator has been working on integrating power services with water, gas, internet access and financial services to better facilitate the transformation of local companies.
