Yantai's 2025 Spring Festival travel rush sees record-breaking passenger growth

During the just-concluded 2025 Spring Festival travel rush, the total number of passengers across road, rail, air, and water in Yantai reached a staggering 2.78 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.39 percent.

This nationwide annual human migration, known as the Spring Festival travel rush, commenced on Jan 14 this year and lasted for 40 days.

To cope with the surge in traffic, transportation authorities in Yantai deployed 46 ships, 400 passenger buses, 3,300 public buses, and 5,400 taxis, while also adding 13 trains and 60 domestic and international flight routes.

Trains transported a total of 1.44 million people, accounted for over 50 percent of all passengers for the first time this year and representing a significant increase of 20.16 percent over the previous year.

To make travel easier for owners of electric vehicles, Yantai's highway service areas added over 100 charging stations and more than 120 charging plugs.
