At the start of 2025, Xiamen's aviation maintenance industry showed promising growth. In January, Xiamen Customs supervised the entry of 21 aircraft for maintenance, a 23.53 percent year-on-year increase. The import and export value of bonded maintenance reached 20.34 billion yuan ($2.8 billion), reflecting a significant 78.72 percent year-on-year growth.
As a critical component of the aviation industry, aviation maintenance is a high-tech sector that integrates technology, capital, and innovation. Xiamen has emerged as the country's largest inbound aviation maintenance hub.
Xiamen has consistently introduced a package of replicable and scalable regulatory innovations to meet the needs of industrial development. Initiatives have been implemented to promote sustained industry growth.
Pilot projects have been launched to optimize temporary outbound supervision, facilitate the repair of components for goods awaiting maintenance, and regulate the random outbound supervision of aviation materials during route maintenance. These efforts have led to the development of an integrated aviation maintenance system and a comprehensive regulatory framework covering the entire industry value chain.
In 2024, Xiamen Customs facilitated a 50 percent increase in the number of AEO enterprises in the aviation maintenance sector, reducing clearance times by over 25 percent. This initiative has cumulatively saved the industry nearly 200 million yuan, providing crucial support for Xiamen's ongoing efforts to establish itself as a leading inbound aviation maintenance hub in China.
