East China's Zhejiang province recently saw its intangible cultural heritage, including several treasures from the coastal city of Wenzhou, highlighted at Chinese New Year celebrations in Malta and Madrid, local media outlets reported.

Both events utilized cultural heritage as a bridge for cross-cultural exchange, allowing the world to experience the depth and innovative vitality of Chinese traditions.

In Malta, from Feb 6 to 8, nearly 1,000 locals and students attended the festival at St Thomas More College and the Chinese Cultural Center, where national and provincial-level heritage items like Taishun puppet shows, Wenzhou rice sculptures, and Quzhou sugar paintings amazed the crowd.

In Madrid, the Spanish Square hosted the opening of the 2025 Happy Spring Festival – Chinese Temple Fair, where intricate paper-cut art by Wenzhou craftsman Yu Llinmin caught the attention of local visitors. Her masterful depictions of the zodiac snake and traditional landscapes wowed the audience.
