Anshun Rapeseed Flower Tourism Festival
Location: Anshun city (main venue)
Huangguoshu and Tunpu cultural tourism area (sub-venues)
Frequency:Annual
Dates: March and April
The beauty of rapeseed flowers can be enjoyed in southern China, but a rapeseed flower field planted to resemble the traditional Chinese character for loong, meaning dragon, can only be seen in Anshun, Guizhou province.
The first Anshun Rapeseed Flower Tourism Festival was held in March 2003. March and April are the best months to visit Guizhou to admire the blooming flowers along the road to the area.
The festival activities include an opening ceremony, art performances, bonfire parties, and folk art performances including the Miao people’s flower-trimming, the Di Xi Opera, antiphonal singing performances by Bouyei girls, ethnic costume displays, as well as rapeseed flower viewing, family cooking competitions, and self-driving tours.
Anshun boasts not only Huangguoshu Waterfall, China’s largest, but also breathtaking natural karst cave, the Loong Palace.
