Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, experienced a tourism boom during the Spring Festival holiday from Jan 28 to Feb 4.
According to statistics from the Jinan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, as of Feb 4, 30 key scenic spots monitored in the city saw 4.22 million visitors during the holiday, generating revenue of 112 million yuan ($15.38 million).
Data from Trip.com Group shows that flight bookings to Jinan increased by 3 percent year-on-year, while inbound tourism reservations saw a 22 percent rise. Major sources of visitors included cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Shanghai, as well as regions including the United States and South Korea.
To mark the first Chinese New Year since its UNESCO inscription, Jinan showcased a rich array of intangible cultural heritage items, from dragon and lion dances to paper cutting and sugar painting. Visitors, both domestic and international, immersed themselves in the city's unique traditions, including spring water culture.
Ice and snow tourism in Jinan also saw a jump during the holiday. A variety of snow-based entertainment options, including ice waterfalls, snow tubing, biking, and snowmobiling offered a unique blend of seasonal recreation and cultural festivities.
Jinan launched over 300 cultural and tourism activities alongside 266 special offers during the holiday, creating a vibrant and immersive festive experience for residents and visitors.
