This fascinating pottery artifact from the Xia Dynasty (c.21st century-16th century BC) holds secrets from thousands of years ago. With a hollow circular base, three coiled snakes sculpted on its surface and engraved patterns, it is believed to have been a ritual tool used by ancient necromancers. The snakes might have symbolized spiritual helpers, reflecting the unique beliefs of the time.

Unearthed from the Erlitou site in Luoyang, Henan province, this pottery item is housed at the Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia Capital.
