The Nanchang August 1st Memorial Hall, located in the capital city of Jiangxi province, opened to the public in 1959. Installed in the former site of the chief command post of the August 1st Uprising, it was established in memory of the Nanchang Uprising led by the Chinese Communist Party on Aug 1, 1927.
The memorial hall houses 1,295 cultural relics and 1,416 reproductions, governing five historical heritage sites related to the uprising, including the chief command post, the command post of the 20th Army led by He Long (1896-1969), the command post of the 11th Army led by Ye Ting (1896-1946), the training school for military officers established by Zhu De (1886-1976), and Zhu De's former residence.
On the second and third floors of the former site of the chief command post of the August 1st Nanchang Uprising, the permanent display is composed of three sections: Gestation of the August 1 Uprising, Breakout of August 1 Uprising, and Southward Expansion of the Uprising and Joining of the Army at Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base.
