Sanhe Ancient Town is located on the Hefei-Huangshan Mountain-Jiuhua Mountain golden tourist route, 40 kilometers from the city of Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province. Its name comes from the fact that the three rivers – the Fengle, Hangbu and Xiaonan – intersect in the town.
With an area of 4.71 square km and a permanent population of 30,000, the town has a history of more than 2,500 years.
There is an old saying about Sanhe that goes: “To make a tour, one should go to the Huangshan Mountain; to sample food, one should visit Sanhe”.
The town is full of buildings built in the styles of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). The white walls, gray roofs, red pillars and the streets paved with smooth black flagstones present beautiful scenery for visitors.
