About 11 kilometers from Yixian county in Anhui province, Hongcun Ancient Village was once praised as “the fairyland in a Chinese painting”.
With a history of more than 800 years, the village was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

Hongcun Ancient Village boasts 138 surviving residences dating back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, showcasing their distinctive architectural style of white walls and black tiled roofs.

Apart from its impressive collection of ancient houses, the village is also renowned for its captivating water scenery. Moon Pond, South Lake and the winding streams weave through the village, adding a touch of serenity and beauty.

Construction of the village began during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). Listed as a World Heritage Site, the village encompasses many historic and cultural sites.
