Established in 1984, Zaozhuang Museum is a comprehensive regional history museum. In 2024 it was elevated to the status of a national first-class museum.
The museum comprises two main facilities. The West branch, located in the Zaozhuang City Cultural Center in Xuecheng district, includes four permanent exhibition halls and a temporary exhibition hall, dedicated to the origin of local civilization, its history, and the development of urban industries.
The East branch, situated at No 56 Longting Road in Shizhong district, highlights the historical artifacts of Zaozhuang with a special focus on Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) pictorial stones.
With a collection spanning over 7,500 years, the museum houses more than 16,000 items. The collection is especially renowned for its bronze artifacts from the pre-Qin and Han periods.
Among its notable pieces are 24 inscribed bronze artifacts from the State of Xiaozhu, dating from the late Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-771 BC) and Warring States Period (475-221 BC), and 16 bronze artifacts from nobles’ tombs of the Western Zhou Dynasty. These artifacts underscore the museum's extensive and varied collection and offer significant insights into regional history and ancient craftsmanship.
