Tourist train loaded with ethnic color in Northeast China

In Longjing, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture in Jilin province, a tourist train connecting Changbai Mountain with Yanji, reveals part of the region's strategy to integrate the railway and tourism. The train is themed to promote local customs.

First launched in July, the train departs early in the morning from Yanbian prefecture, its whistle echoing as it heads toward snow-covered Changbai Mountain.

From their windows, passengers can take in views of traditional ethnic houses, rolling mountains and historical landmarks. Inside, themed carriages immerse visitors in the diverse cultures of the Korean, Manchu and Russian ethnic groups.

The train provides a unique cultural experience with live performances, including gayageum music, drum dances, demonstrations of folk crafts, intangible heritage opportunities to sample local cuisine.
