Nearly 30 international visitors from the United States, Italy, Spain and other countries learned about traditional Chinese medicine in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 21.
They learned about TCM's history and culture at the Nantong Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum and observed TCM practices such as tuinaor massage and cupping therapy, learned how to make TCM sachets, tasted Chinese herbal tea, and received health advice from professional TCM practitioners at the Nantong Hanyao Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
At the Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group's production facility for Wang Family's Baochi pills, which are used to treat gastrointestinal diseases, they got a glimpse into the company's manufacturing techniques.
An Italian professor at Nantong University said that he once developed a cough while in China but was successfully treated by TCM. He experienced the efficient treatment first-hand and believes that drinking Chinese herbal tea is like tasting the flavor of nature.
Meanwhile, a Russian student at Nantong University experienced pulse diagnosis for the first time. She said, "The doctor told me that my qior vital energy and blood are fine, and I am really happy." She expressed a strong interest in TCM.
During the event, a group of international visitors and Nantong TCM practitioners were appointed as the cultural exchange ambassadors for TCM in Nantong as part of the city's efforts to promote the preservation and development of TCM.
