Forum Macao: 'Golden key' unlocking the bond between China and Portuguese-speaking countries

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. Due to historical reasons, Macao serves as a unique "bridge" between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Since its return, Macao has continued to maintain close economic and trade ties with these countries.

According to the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area unveiled in February 2019, Macao is granted the positions of "one center, one platform and one base" - "one platform" refers to the Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSCs). At present, an increasing number of PSCs are leveraging the platform to access the Greater Bay Area and the vast Chinese mainland market.
