On Dec 14, a Nok Air 737 was undergoing maintenance in a hangar at the one-stop aircraft maintenance industry base of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The work, performed by Grand China Aviation Maintenance, a subsidiary of HNA Technic, was close to completion and expected to be finished by Dec 16.
In the Haikou Airport Free Trade Zone, thanks to the Hainan FTP’s zero tariff policy as well as other beneficial policies, aircraft from Thailand, Qatar, and a wide variety of other countries have already undergone bonded maintenance. From Jan - Nov 2024, the total value of bonded maintenance carried out in the zone was 4.5 times higher than over the same period in 2023.
On June 1, 2020, the “Master Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port” was issued, resulting in the implementation of many policies and subsidies designed to support the development of the aviation maintenance industry.
In 2021, HNA Technic and its subsidiary Grand China Aviation Maintenance along with Hainan Aerospace Painting Company Limited were the first companies to obtain leasing rights in the Hainan FTP one-stop aircraft maintenance industry base. Now, just three years later, HNA Technic has achieved one-stop engineering maintenance service capabilities such as aircraft fuselage overhauling, spare parts maintenance, aircraft livery painting, and more. The company has also obtained aviation maintenance qualifications from the aviation management departments of seventeen countries and regions, including the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States.
A total of over 1,700 aircraft maintenance projects have been performed at the Hainan FTP one-stop aircraft maintenance base since it began operation, with over 200 aircraft livery paint jobs finished and maintenance completed on over 40,000 aircraft parts.
HNA Technic has also launched an innovative one-stop service combining maintenance and painting for inbound aircraft. Over seventy airlines have already taken advantage of this service, including Qatar Airways, Royal Air Philippines, and Thai Air Asia, with the number of aircraft coming in for service multiplying rapidly.
