The Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province recently announced the fourth batch of Guangdong cultural and tourism characteristic villages. Among the selected villages, Beishan village in Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, stands out as the only village in Xiangzhou to make the list.
Beishan village, located in the southeastern part of Nanping town, Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, boasts a rich history of 780 years. The village is home to 108 historical buildings and has combined ancient architecture with cultural packaging. This approach has transformed Beishan from a rundown old village into an internationally recognized one. With over a decade of cultural and tourism development, the village has become a model for industry integration.
The village's deep cultural heritage, well-preserved ancient houses, and vibrant traditional streets contribute to its status as a historical and cultural village. Beishan village has also nurtured a number of notable historical figures and preserved traditional customs, further enhancing its cultural significance.
Since 2007, Beishan has renovated its ancient buildings, integrating the tourism and cultural industries. This development has attracted diverse cultural elements, creating a unique blend of local and international influences. The village's thriving cultural and tourism industries have significantly boosted the local economy, with over five million annual visitors.
