Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum cultivates talent

Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group Co Ltd is fueling high-quality development through the cultivation of skilled talent.

The company recently certified two skills master studios at its gas field operations, reinforcing its dedication to innovation. At the same time, Liu Rui, a gas miner, secured gold at the 2024 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition, exemplifying the power of expertise in driving enterprise growth.

In recent years, the Gas Field Company of Yanchang Petroleum has embraced the principle that "talent is the foremost resource". By developing a robust talent training system and fostering skilled teams, the company has nurtured a strong workforce of skilled craftsmen aligned with its high-quality development goals. This has provided a solid foundation for achieving the impressive milestone of producing 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

In 2021, the company formulated the Occupational Skill Evaluation Management Manual for Gas Field Company, establishing standardized forms, methods and procedures for everything from planning and training to organizational recognition.

"The company actively encourages top-skilled talents to participate in the training and certification of internal trainers and skill assessors within the group,” said the head of the company's Human Resources Department.

"Currently, 109 internal trainers are involved in daily employee training across areas such as job knowledge, operational skills, safety management, while 196 assessors are engaged in certifying job skills in fields including gas production, purification, electricity, pliers, oil and gas pipeline protection, and instruments and meters."

The company currently boasts a talented workforce of 2,288 skilled professionals across various levels, including two senior technicians, 86 technicians, 450 senior workers and 1,750 junior workers.

"This is my first time competing at such a high level. I’m extremely proud to represent Yanchang Petroleum Group and win the gold medal," said Liu the gas miner.

In recent years, the company has utilized the skills master studio to allow skilled personnel to carry out technological innovation activities through two platforms: "mentorship" and "innovation and entrepreneurship".

For example, the Yan929 Gas Production Team of the company's second gas production plant has a platform that gathers ingenuity and innovation - the Gao Xiaoyu Master Studio for Gas Production.

Since its establishment, the studio has focused on on-site production, aiming to eliminate safety risks and reduce costs. It has actively contributed to training skilled talent, driving technological breakthroughs and showcasing innovations.

The studio members have resolved over 232 production issues on-site, completed 16 innovative reforms, and saved more than 3 million yuan ($412,239) in costs. It has been recognized as one of the 2024 Yanchang Petroleum Group skills master studios.
