On Dec 5, the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center welcomed over 25,000 people for the first day of the 27th China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair for Tropical Agricultural Products (also known as "Hainan Winter Trade Fair").
On the first day of the Hainan Winter Trade Fair, the total amount of on-site transactions was just under 5 million yuan ($0.7 million), the total amount of on-site order transactions was just over 225 million yuan ($31 million), and four projects worth 660 million yuan were signed ($91 million).
Held annually since 1998, the Winter Trade Fair has gradually become an important calling card of local tropical agriculture’s high-level development. With 2,200 enterprises and over 10,000 tons of agricultural produce, this year's Fair has over 80,000 square meters of exhibition space.
Including the Guest-of-Honor, Vietnam, countries at this year's Fair include Cambodia, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Georgia, Kenya, Korea, Laos, Mongolia, Russia, Singapore, and Uganda with more than 50 representatives of industry organizations bringing nuts, coffee, dried chilis, chocolate, tea, rice, butter, and cheese. Many country representatives are in talks with local businesses about the possibility of expanding into the Hainan Free Trade Port.
