The cultural and tourism bureau of Huangshan recently received an expression of gratitude all the way from the United Kingdom, in the form of a letter.
It was penned by Jo Dilley, managing director of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, the tourist board for the Peak District and Derbyshire – one of the most famous natural tourist areas in the UK – who visited Huangshan city this year.
In her letter, she expressed sincere thanks for the warm hospitality extended to her during her visit and expressed her anticipation of expanding cultural and tourism exchanges between the two regions in the future.
From Oct 30 to Nov 1, at the invitation of the Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Dilley and her delegation from Derbyshire toured Mount Huangshan, Hongcun village, Huizhou Ancient Town, Qihong town and Qiyun town.
They said that they were impressed by the exceptional natural resources and rich historical culture of Huangshan city.
Dilley has dedicated the past 20 years to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, natural landscapes and rural areas, transforming tourism into a cornerstone industry in Derbyshire and garnering extensive international attention.
Dilley said that Derbyshire shared similarities with Anhui and Huangshan. While Anhui is renowned for Mount Huangshan, Derbyshire is famous for its Peak District. She added that both regions offered aesthetic displays to tourists seeking relaxation and cultural experiences.
The friendly ties between the UK and Anhui have a long history. In 2017, mutual visits between Huangshan and Derbyshire led to the signing of memorandum of friendly cooperation between Huangshan and Derbyshire, marking the beginning of both side’s cultural and tourism exchanges.
