The 2023-2024 Top 10 Institutional Innovation Cases of China Pilot Free Trade Zones (FTZs) were announced at the 11th Sun Yat-sen University Free Trade Zone Forum held in Guangzhou on Nov 30. Among the winners was the Xi'an area of the China (Shaanxi) Pilot FTZ for its pioneering "cross-border livestreaming to boost cultural trade exports" initiative.
This innovation leverages Xi'an High-Tech Industries Development Zone's status as a National Cultural Export Base. It focuses on exporting high-quality cultural products and services through short video livestreaming, a rising global trend. By establishing industry standards for cross-border livestreaming, launching a talent development pipeline, and supporting livestreaming service operators, the model effectively spreads Chinese culture to a global audience.
To date, Xi'an high-tech one has established 10 livestreaming talent training centers, trained over 100 high-level instructors, and conducted 30 training sessions. This effort has expanded the global reach of cultural products from brands like MUKZIN, building a marketing network spanning over 200 countries and regions.
The forum also explored "Original and Integrated Innovation in FTZs", gathering experts, entrepreneurs, and representatives from across China's FTZs to discuss high-level opening strategies.
To date, the Xi'an area of Shaanxi FTZ has had 39 innovations recognized nationally and 88 adopted province-wide. According to the 2023-2024 Institutional Innovation Index from the Institute of FTZs at Sun Yat-sen University, the Xi'an area of the Shaanxi FTZ ranks 16th among 57 FTZs nationwide, reflecting significant progress.
