Shandong unveils 10 archaeological sites for educational tours

Renowned as the birthplace of Confucianism and a cradle of Chinese civilization, Shandong province shows the richness of its cultural heritage in a newly released list of 10 archaeological sites for educational tours. The announcement was made at the launch ceremony of an online event about Shandong culture held on Nov 30.

Spanning from prehistoric times to the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), these 10 archaeological sites offer a captivating glimpse into the historical and cultural tapestry of Shandong.

Taian's Dawenkou National Archaeological Site Park, located in Dawenkou town and Ciyao town in Taian, is of great significance to Chinese civilization and Dawenkou culture.

The Chengziya Site in Jinan's Zhangqiu district, the birthplace of the Longshan Culture, are the first independently discovered and excavated prehistoric sites in China, laying a vital cornerstone for developing Chinese prehistoric archaeology.
