The 2024 Hangzhou Women's Half Marathon kicked off around West Lake on Dec 1, attracting 8,000 female runners.
Xu Bingjie clinched first place with a time of 1:17:40, followed by Wang Yiman and Weng Weixian. The event, certified by the Chinese Athletics Association, highlighted the beauty of West Lake and the city's commitment to empowering women through sport.
The race, which is China's first women-only marathon circling West Lake, combined natural splendor and cultural heritage with a modern urban aesthetic. With innovative features like scented medals and personalized race amenities, as well as eco-friendly initiatives such as clothing donations, the marathon emphasized care and creativity.
The event celebrated female strength and inclusivity with an all-women support team. Hangzhou's blend of tradition and innovation shone through, leaving lasting memories and setting the stage for more inspiring races to come.
