Taiyuan ranks 32nd in 2024 Top 100 Cities in Technological Innovation Competitiveness

The China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) recently released the 2024 Top 100 Cities for Technological Innovation Competitiveness list, with Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, ranking 32nd.

According to the CCID Research Institute, the threshold for technological innovation in Chinese cities is continuously rising, and overall strength is steadily rising.

Provincial capital cities are leading regional technological innovation. The list shows that the scores of provincial capital cities are higher than the average scores of other cities in those provinces, demonstrating the significant role of capital cities in concentrating innovation resources.

Taiyuan is developing the "Jinchuang Valley · Taiyuan" pilot zone to high standards, issuing a city-level "1+7" policy system for its development. The city is concentrating on fields such as energy and new energy, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, and new materials, accelerating the construction of supporting facilities.

Regular activities such as bank-enterprise cooperation events, project roadshows, achievement releases, and policy briefings are held to attract numerous research teams and technology-based enterprises to Taiyuan, speeding up the commercialization of more outstanding technological achievements into new quality productive forces.

Additionally, Taiyuan is accelerating the creation of high-level technological innovation platforms. As of June, the city had 76 technology innovation centers at the provincial-level or above, accounting for 74 percent of the province's total; 139 key laboratories at the provincial-level or above, accounting for 79 percent of the province's total; and seven national key laboratories, accounting for 88 percent of the province's total.
