On Nov 22, construction officially commenced on the Taizhou South High-Speed Railway Station Comprehensive Transportation Hub. In addition to the station itself, supporting infrastructure, railway-related roadworks, and an integrated passenger transport hub will also be built.
Wu Yonghong, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transport, highlighted the department's commitment to supporting the development of transportation infrastructure in Taizhou. He emphasized the importance of integrating comprehensive transportation systems with regional economic and social development and pledged to help Taizhou carry out more transportation projects.
Wu also encouraged leveraging Taizhou's waterway network – the densest in the province – to foster multimodal transportation systems combining road, rail, and waterways, enhancing efficiency and reducing logistics costs.
Wan Wenhua, mayor of Taizhou, noted that the project is ambitious in scale, time-sensitive, and highly anticipated by the public. She called on construction teams, local governments, and related departments to collaborate closely, pool resources, and provide optimal support for the project. Wan stressed the need for dedicated task forces to address construction challenges proactively, ensuring smooth, efficient, and standardized progress.
