Changan Auto unveils new model

On Nov 22, Changan Auto and CATL held a signing ceremony in Chongqing for a cooperation agreement on a battery swap project. During the event, they also signed a letter of intent to order with taxi company partners.

At the same event, Changan Oshan unveiled its new model, the Oshan 520, showcasing its battery swap process, which takes just 2 minutes and allows the vehicle to travel up to 500 kilometers.

The Oshan 520 features several innovative functions, including one-click battery swapping and vehicle-to-battery separation, effectively addressing common concerns about electric vehicle (EV) range, charging time, and overall cost.

In the vehicle-to-battery separation mode, the Oshan 520's battery can be utilized as a shared asset, offering both charging and swapping capabilities. This model reduces the car's purchase cost by 35 percent and lowers insurance fees by more than 10 percent, potentially saving the equivalent of a new car's cost over the course of six years.

The Oshan 520 is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 105 kilowatts and is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a pure electric range of up to 515 km under the CLTC standard.

Complementing the Oshan 520 is CATL's innovative "Chocolate" battery swap station. Changan Oshan representatives stated that these swap stations will significantly enhance the operational efficiency of electric vehicles in China, providing strong support for large-scale operations across the entire industry chain.
