Digitalized strawberry plantation in Zhoushan welcomes new harvest

The digitalized strawberry plantation on Taohua Island in Putuo district, Zhoushan, has seen its first early-ripening strawberries ready for picking, according to local media on Nov 26.

By mid-December, these greenhouse strawberries are expected to hit the market in large quantities, with a seasonal yield of 8 metric tons and an estimated value of 500,000 yuan ($68,900).

These strawberries are of the AiBerry variety, with a sugar content exceeding 12 percent and individual weights between 35 and 40 grams, according to the operations manager of the Four Dimensional Ecological Technology (Zhoushan) Co.

The plantation employs advanced digital and intelligent methods to precisely control environmental factors in order to provide a clean growing environment, specialized lighting, and automated and uniform irrigation.

The intelligent greenhouse planting system operates year-round without seasonal constraints, offering customized planting across the entire production chain. The strawberries produced here are healthy and safe with no pesticide residues. They can yield over 10 times more and the economic value is 50 to 80 times higher.

Covering a total area of 4,168 square meters, the digitalized strawberry plantation is the first of its kind in Taohua town and is attracting social capital investment.
