First university in mountainous part of Wenzhou

The mountainous region of Wencheng county, Wenzhou finally has a university of its own, Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic Wencheng Campus.

A little over a month ago, the campus welcomed its first class of 600 freshmen, marking a significant milestone for Wencheng as it ventures into tertiary education for the first time.

Spanning 90,000 square meters, the campus is designed to accommodate 3,000 students, and has all the facilities needed including classrooms, administrative offices, an auditorium, a library, a gymnasium, a student activity center, and one of Wenzhou's best 50-meter standard-sized swimming pools.

The university offers five initial programs: aircrew service, e-commerce, online marketing and livestream sales, hotel management and digital operations, and culinary arts and nutrition. These programs align closely with Wencheng's three key future industries, namely the low-altitude economy, modern agriculture, and cultural tourism.

Located within an industrial park totaling 171,000 square meters, the campus is near a research and study area and a health and wellness area. Students can expand their learning and hands-on skills by exploring the rich local culture and participating in forest health projects.
