The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently revealed the latest list of national-level advanced manufacturing clusters, with three clusters in Suzhou making the cut.
The high-end scientific instruments cluster, which was independently declared by the Suzhou government, along with the Yangtze River Delta (including Jiangxi) large aircraft cluster and the southern Jiangsu special steel materials cluster, both of which the Suzhou government participated in declaring, were included on the list.
Suzhou now boasts a total of six advanced manufacturing clusters, accounting for 7.5 percent of the national total and ranking first in Jiangsu province.
The city's high-end scientific instruments cluster, centered in Suzhou Industrial Park, focuses on three main areas: industrial instruments, scientific instruments, and specialized instruments, and targets six key directions: industrial control, intelligent detection, physical properties testing, electronic measurement, intelligent sensing, and digital imaging. The cluster has attracted over 700 related enterprises, cultivated eight listed companies, and achieved a total industrial scale nearing 40 billion yuan ($5.52 billion).
Advanced manufacturing clusters are crucial for promoting the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry. They enhance industrial organization and spatial layout, optimize and stabilize industrial and supply chains, and support the construction of a modern industrial system.
