Qingxu county in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, has ranked among China's top 100 counties for the "2024 National County-level Geographical Indication Industry High-quality Development Research Report".
Geographical indications are a new type of intellectual property for agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. They mark the origin and quality reputation of local specialty products.
The national research is based on a database of geographical indications and public information and follows research procedures, including data collection, organization, analysis, screening, and verification.
According to the "county-level geographical indication industry high-quality development comprehensive index research evaluation system," the research evaluates the top 100 counties regarding industry strength and status, natural and cultural factors, leading geographical indications, rural vitalization, and government promotion.
The list shows Qingxu county ranks 93rd with a comprehensive index score of 639.72. It has four geographical indications, the top one being Qingxu mature vinegar.
Qingxu boasts convenient transportation, fertile land, abundant water systems, and numerous lakes. It is the birthplace of Shanxi mature vinegar and is home to leading vinegar enterprises.
