North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has released the "Implementation Plan for the Innovative Development of Future Industries" to accelerate the development of future industries and foster new, high-quality productive forces.

The plan, jointly formulated by the Inner Mongolia Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Inner Mongolia Department of Education, and six other departments, aims to position Inner Mongolia at the forefront of industrial innovation.

It outlines a comprehensive strategy focusing on upgrading traditional industries and industrializing cutting-edge technologies. Inner Mongolia will prioritize the development of nine key industries: carbon-based new materials, new chemical materials, rare earth new materials, hydrogen energy, next-generation semiconductor materials, new energy storage, computing networks, the low-altitude economy, and synthetic biology.

Additionally, the region will cultivate five emerging industries with significant potential: biomass green energy, additive manufacturing, intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence, and aerospace.

Three pioneering industries – superconducting materials, the metaverse, and advanced nuclear energy – will be strategically positioned to lead future growth. This establishes a "9+5+3" framework for the future industrial landscape.

The plan aims to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies, develop landmark products, promote demonstration applications, nurture leading enterprises, and establish several high-level pilot zones for future industries by 2030. It also includes constructing intermediate testing and public service platforms.

Key tasks include accelerating technological innovation and industrialization, developing flagship products, expanding application scenarios, strengthening industrial entities, and creating specialized industrial hubs.

To drive its implementation, the plan calls for establishing a regional mechanism to promote future industry innovation, enhance cross-departmental coordination, and ensure integrated development efforts.

It also seeks to create a growth mechanism for future industry investments, encouraging policy banks and financial institutions to increase their funding.

Furthermore, the plan emphasizes attracting leading domestic and international enterprises and research institutions to set up advanced technology R&D centers in Inner Mongolia, thereby advancing future technologies' research and industrial application.
