The China Railway Hohhot Group Co announced that the Jining-Datong-Yuanping High-speed Railway (HSR) has entered its trial operation phase.

This milestone was marked by the departure of test train 55501 from Ulaanqab Railway Station at 7:30 am on Nov 21, initiating the trial runs between Ulaanqab city and Fengzhen North.

The Jining-Datong-Yuanping HSR stretches from Jining in Inner Mongolia through Datong to Yuanping, both in Shanxi.

It has a total length of 268.3 kilometers and a designed speed of 250km per hour.

The trial operation includes comprehensive tests, such as testing timetable parameters, fault simulations, emergency rescue drills, and scheduled train operations.

These tests simulate the railway's actual operational conditions, assessing transportation organization, train dispatching, operational density, and equipment status. The goal is to verify whether the operational plans meet the necessary requirements for official service commencement, providing a scientific basis for the railway's formal launch.

The Jining-Datong-Yuanping HSR will connect with other major high-speed lines, such as the Zhangjiakou-Hohhot, Datong-Xi'an, and Zhengzhou-Taiyuan lines, as well as the under-construction Xiong'an-Xinzhou HSR.

Once operational, it will integrate the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia into the national high-speed rail network.

High-speed and bullet trains departing from Hohhot and Baotou cities in Inner Mongolia can directly reach North China, East China, and other regions. The fastest travel time between Hohhot and Taiyuan will be halved from over five hours to approximately 2.5 hours.
