The culture and tourism departments of Shanxi province and Inner Mongolia autonomous region held a meeting on Nov 20 in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, which culminated in the signing of a strategic cultural tourism cooperation agreement.

The two regions will jointly promote the preservation of the "Tea Road of Ten Thousand Miles" and collaborate on its nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. They will also develop international tourism routes along this historic trail.

Both sides will offer targeted discounts to attract tourists from each other's regions. Visitors from Shanxi will enjoy 20-50 percent off first-entry tickets to all A-level scenic spots in Baotou. They will also enjoy 20-50 percent discounts on hotel accommodation and activities at ice parks and ski resorts. Performances by the Small Theatre Alliance will also be available at half price.

During the Yellow River ice observation period in Baotou, Shanxi tourists can ride city buses for free and participate in various cultural and tourism activities at no cost. For Shanxi tour groups, all museums and memorials in the city will waive guide fees.

Baotou has also launched four premium tourism routes for Shanxi visitors, with the theme "Retracing the Westward Journey, Rekindling Baotou Affection".
