North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, which covers 1.18 million square kilometers, is home to unique art troupes known as Ulan Muqir.

The first Ulan Muqir troupe was established in Sonid Right Banner, Xiliin Gol League, on June 17, 1957. Now, the entire region has 75 troupes.

Their performances may include songs, dancing, and acting. They move from one grazing site to another, performing in some of China's most remote areas.

Over the past six decades, generations of Ulan Muqir members have performed over 400,000 shows, traveling over a million kilometers.

Since 2018, starting June 17 each year, Ulan Muqir art troupes across Inner Mongolia have engaged in month-long public benefit activities. With 75 troupes conducting over 8,000 performances annually, they bring art to every corner of northern China.

To support Ulan Muqir's development, Inner Mongolia has implemented policies to accelerate its growth. These include the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Ulan Muqir Regulations and the Ulan Muqir Medium and Long-Term Development Plan (2021-30).

Special funds were allocated for Ulan Muqir, which provided 75 troupes with performance buses, built new Ulan Muqir sites, and organized festivals, competitions, and exchange performances to foster learning and progress among members.

Today, Ulan Muqir troupes continue to sing and dance across the region and beyond, enhancing the reputation of their homeland.

During the Hohhot winter ice and snow activity promotion in Shanghai, the Hohhot Ulan Muqir troupe performed flash mobs at the Shanghai Bund, Yuyuan Garden, and the Oriental Pearl Tower, inviting the people of Shanghai to experience winter festivities.
