At the 29th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, Alibaba showed its AI-driven initiatives for tackling climate change, emphasizing green cloud computing, renewable energy, and sustainable consumption.

Alibaba Cloud unveiled its green infrastructure stack, using AI to cut energy costs by 37 percent and carbon footprints by 14 percent. Its BaGuan Weather AI Model and eForecaster boost renewable energy efficiency, with 40 percent greater accuracy in weather predictions.

The secondhand trading platform Xianyu (Idle Fish) now boasts 600 million users, with AI tools streamlining listings and promoting circular economies. Meanwhile, the Energy Expert platform, used at the Paris Olympics, has enabled real-time energy monitoring across 35 venues, highlighting scalable energy solutions.

"Digitalization and sustainability are intertwined," said Alibaba's Chief Marketing Officer Dong Benhong, reaffirming the company's commitment to a greener future through technology.

Alibaba was invited by China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment and has helped host side events at the China Pavilion for the third time.
