Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, was included among the top 100 cities in tech Innovation competitiveness for 2024 on a list released by the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) on Nov 6.
Jinan ranked 18th, and a total of 11 cities in Shandong made the list. The list is based on factors such as R&D investment, number of high-tech enterprises, development of the digital economy, and talent availability.
Jinan has been increasing R&D investment, supporting the development of high-tech enterprises and advancing digital development in recent years.
The city's digital economy is surging ahead, with its core industries surpassing an output value of 600 billion yuan ($84 billion) last year, while its value-added component is estimated to have accounted for over 19 percent of the regional GDP.
