Zhoushan shipbuilding industry achieves over $4.3b output

Official data show that Zhoushan's shipbuilding industry achieved an output value of 31.72 billion yuan ($4.38 billion) in the first three quarters of the year, marking a 26.2 percent year-on-year increase.

Zhoushan has been focusing on the high-end, intelligent, and green development of its shipbuilding industry, boosting the production capacity and output value of shipbuilding companies.

Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co currently has 10 ships under repair, fully occupying its three docks.

According to a representative from Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co, the company has ample orders, and it is focusing on accelerating the transition between old and new growth drivers to enhance quality and efficiency.

The head of the ship repair management department at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co said that the company's ship repair output value increased by 5.8 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters, achieving 83.1 percent of its annual target.

The COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co is currently repairing 20 large ships and constructing 11 new ships, including shuttle tankers, transshipment barges, and bulk carriers, all of which are high-value-added vessels. The company plans to deliver 15 new ships this year, having already delivered 13.

In the first three quarters, the company’s shipbuilding output value increased by 25 percent year-on-year, surpassing the total output value for the previous year.
