The 2024 International 2D Materials Conference was held in Longwan district, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, from Nov 9 to 10.

Konstantin Novoselov, co-discoverer of graphene and 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics laureate, praised Wenzhou as a model for the graphene industry and its applications.

The conference focused on the most active research areas in 2D materials, aiming to create a platform for industry-academia-research collaboration. It featured keynote speeches, industry-academia-research roundtables, and an exhibition of industrial achievements.

Over 600 leading experts and young scholars from around the world attended, including Duan Xiangfeng, a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, Andrea Ferrari, a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Yury Gogotsi, known as "the Father of MXene".

Early in 2018, Novoselov's team collaborated with Wenzhou enterprises to promote innovative applications of graphene. At the conference, he mentioned that he has visited Wenzhou three or four times in recent years and has been impressed by the warmth of its people and the remarkable progress made by Wenzhou companies in the graphene industry, with successful application outcomes already in place.

In recent years, Wenzhou has established several research institutions dedicated to the development of graphene, an important 2D material, and provided a comprehensive service platform for innovative teams and tech enterprises, promoting the development of the graphene industry.
