A conference titled "Streamlining Data Circulation, Unlocking Data Value" was held on Nov 10 in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, marking the city's commitment to accelerating public data resource development. The initiative aims to foster a unified national data market, build a vibrant data industry ecosystem, and drive high-quality economic and social growth in the city.

As a strategic resource in the digital age, data has become the fifth major production factor, essential for advancing the digital economy. Recognizing this, Hohhot has utilized its unique position as a national hub for digital infrastructure – housing key resources such as the "channeling computing resources from the east to the west" node, a major internet interconnection point, and a dedicated international data channel. These assets support Hohhot's rapidly growing AI and green computing sectors, making the city a rising leader in digital innovation. With computing power reaching 30,000 petaflops, Hohhot ranks 15th in China's "Top 20 Computing Cities".

The city's new data initiative aligns with its policy framework on data governance and public data management, focusing on developing data services, trading, security, and infrastructure. Hohhot plans to cultivate a strong network of data companies and foster collaborative efforts nationwide, ultimately enhancing the application of public data and contributing fresh momentum to the city's sustainable development.
