Luocheng, China's only Mulam autonomous county, is home to a vibrant mix of ethnic groups, including Mulam, Zhuang, Han, Miao, Yao, and Dong, which shapes its rich and diverse cultural landscape.
Guided by a commitment to "protection, preservation, sustainable use, and development", Luocheng is home to 97 intangible cultural heritage items, including nationally recognized treasures like the Mulam Yifan Festival and Mulam Ancient Songs, alongside regional assets such as the Mulam Grass Dragon Dance, Zoupo Festival, and a number of unique crafting techniques.
On Nov 21, Luocheng plans to host an exhibition of local ICH items at Chenglong Lake Square. The event is expected to feature captivating displays of dragon and lion dances, melodic Mulam ancient songs, traditional Mulam dances, and classic opera shows, offering people a chance to experience the dynamic beauty of Luocheng's traditions firsthand.
