The 23 stations of Metro Line 1 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, recently installed automatic fare collection (AFC) systems.

The AFC system integrates sales, inspections, settlement, and management functions. It enables self-service ticket sales for entering and exiting the station and ticketing processes.

Passengers can purchase one-way tickets or rechargeable metro cards at the automatic ticket machines and enter the station by swiping cards, scanning QR codes, or using facial recognition at the gates.

The automatic ticket inspection machines on Metro Line 1 are only 18 centimeters wide and have large-screen facial recognition PADs. The LED direction indicators have been upgraded to LCD vertical strip screens, which make the information display clearer and more diverse.

Meanwhile, an integrated intelligent customer service center has replaced the original semi-automatic ticket vending machine, adding smart ticketing terminals that passengers can operate independently.

The operation terminal has an extra-large touch screen for more convenient and efficient use. At the same time, the customer service center integrates self-service information consultation, ticket processing, remote assistance, and other functions.

It provides station names, ticket purchase guidance, voice recognition, information inquiries, and station maps. It also features both unmanned operations and human customer services.
