The China Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, is offering a journey back to the bustling city of Kaifeng – known as Dongjing during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). Exquisite artifacts, from paintings, calligraphy and jade to stone carvings and gold and silver ware, reflect the flourishing commerce of the period, bringing to life the vibrant urban lifestyle of ancient Kaifeng.
