In July, the "Gigabit Guizhou, 10-Gigabit Guiyang Action Plan (2024-25)" was introduced to transform Guizhou province into a high-speed digital hub. By 2025, Guiyang's fiber network will support "10-gigabit-to-home" capability, and its mobile networks will achieve similar speeds, positioning the province among the national leaders in network accessibility and infrastructure.
The plan underscores Guizhou's ongoing commitment to advancing digital infrastructure to foster economic development. This initiative supports Guizhou's leading position in the national data economy and is designed as a foundational step toward integrating digital and traditional industries. Improved connectivity will benefit sectors like new industrialization and the "channeling computing resources from east to west" project, facilitating better access to digital resources.
The plan is divided into strategic components, including eight special actions and 16 focused projects. Key initiatives involve strengthening fiber networks, enhancing 5G coverage, and promoting digital applications across industries. By 2025, fiber access will cover 95 percent of administrative villages in Guizhou, supported by 160,000 5G stations.
In Guiyang, cutting-edge "10-Gigabit City" projects, including advanced 5G and expanded cloud capacity, are underway. With over 2,000 50G-PON ports and 800 advanced 5G stations expected, Guiyang is setting a new standard in connectivity, propelling Guizhou's digital economy and improving access to technology-driven opportunities across the region.
