Wuxi's GDP up 6% in first three quarters

The GDP of Wuxi in Jiangsu province increased 6 percent year-on-year in the Jan-Sept period, amounting to 1.15 trillion yuan ($161.17 billion), according to the city's statistics authority.

Since May, Wuxi's foreign trade has consistently remained at 65 billion yuan monthly. In the first three quarters, the city's total foreign trade volume reached 565.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent, reaching a new historical high.

From January to September, Wuxi received 220,500 overnight inbound tourists, a year-on-year increase of 91.8 percent. Its tourism foreign exchange income totaled $290 million, up 44.6 percent from the previous year during the same period, ranking among the top in the province regarding growth rate.

In the first three quarters, the total fixed asset investment in Wuxi reached 364.94 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8 percent from last year, and the industrial investment showed strong momentum, with a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent.
