In the early hours of Oct 27, Yan Ziyi from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, triumphed at the International School Sport Federation Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, clinching a gold and a silver medal.
The 16-year-old prodigy seized the gold in the women's javelin final with a throw of 56.07 meters and secured the silver in the women's shot put final with a distance of 16.99 meters.
The ISF Gymnasiade stands as a prestigious global sporting event catering to middle school students, having successfully completed 18 editions to date.
Held in Bahrain from Oct 23 to 31, this year's edition encompasses 26 major events. The Chinese sports contingent, comprising 103 athletes, is engaged in 17 major events and 124 sub-events, spanning disciplines such as athletics, swimming, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, taekwondo, chess, and more.
Yan's recent victories mark her third triumph in the women's javelin category at a global competition. Prior to this achievement, she claimed dual titles in javelin and shot put at the ISF Gymnasiade 2023 and emerged victorious as the women's javelin champion at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima this August.
