Wuxi explores innovative development in low-altitude economy

The 2024 Taihu Bay Wuxi Low-Altitude Economy Innovation and Development Conference took place in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Oct 26, aiming to advance the development of the low-altitude economy in the city.

Several significant announcements were made during the conference, including the release of the White Paper on Wuxi Low-Altitude Economic Development and policies and measures to support the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy in Wuxi with a subsidy of up to 200 million yuan ($28.07 million).

Additionally, Wuxi's low-altitude airspace and route maps were unveiled, along with the Wuxi low-altitude flight supervision and service platform around Taihu Lake.

The conference witnessed the establishment of the Taihu Bay Wuxi Low-Altitude Economic Innovation and Development Ecological Alliance, which is expected to pool critical resources such as academicians, leading enterprises, industry associations, universities, and capital to facilitate the interconnection among technologies, products, markets, and information in Wuxi.

The Wuxi Low-Altitude Economic Development Expert Think Tank, comprising academicians, experts, scholars, and industry elites, was established on the same day. This think tank is poised to offer professional and intellectual support for the low-altitude economy in Wuxi.

Furthermore, Wuxi secured 72 projects in the low-altitude economy sector, with a total investment of 30.2 billion yuan, including a UAV development and production project. Eight industrial funds related to the low-altitude economy, totaling around 15.3 billion yuan, were also introduced at the conference.

Before the main event, attendees had the opportunity to explore an exhibition featuring low-altitude flight equipment from Wuxi's key enterprises. The exhibition provided interactive experiences such as operating UAVs and controlling the cockpit.

Currently, Wuxi has garnered 134 low-altitude economy-related enterprises, established 29 low-altitude industry funds, set up 22 platform institutions, and opened 32 low-altitude routes with a total length exceeding 1,320 kilometers. The total output value of the low-altitude industry in the city is expected to exceed 12 billion yuan this year, and by 2035, the industry scale will surpass 200 billion yuan.
