On Oct 17, a China-Europe Railway Express loaded with auto parts left the Hohhot Shaliang Logistics Park for Tikhonovo Port in Moscow, Russia. This shipment marked a significant milestone, bringing Hohhot's total China-Europe Railway Express departures to over 100 trains and more than 10,000 containers this year – a record high since the city launched the service.
In 2024, Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, utilized its international land port to innovate its freight operations. The city introduced new cargo types, such as wheat flour, and introduced cross-border e-commerce trains. Hohhot also initiated the first-ever JSQ train route in the region and processed return shipments, such as flaxseed, for local production.
Hohhot also expanded its logistics routes, becoming the first in the country to launch JSQ trains through the Alashankou exit gateway. To enhance efficiency, a "railway fast clearance" system was implemented.
Hohhot aims to build a China-Europe Railway Express hub and expand train routes, further strengthening its role as a key player in China's Belt and Road Initiative and as a crucial gateway for northern trade.
