On Nov 25, 2004, Hechi Daily headlined the establishment ceremony of Hechi University (HCU), marking the end of Hechi's history without a local undergraduate institution. The university has since nurtured nearly 100,000 talents.
HCU has over 70 years of history since its foundation in 1951. It then became a key place in teacher training and education in Guangxi, with over 16,240 graduates and 40 percent of Hechi’s primary education workforce.
From 2006 to 2021, HCU experienced huge changes and put enough effort into supporting student literary achievements. The Chinese Language and Literature major became a national specialty program in 2010, and notable alumni Dong Xi won the Lu Xun Literature Prize in 2021.
The university has embraced innovation, integrated industry and education, and expanded its global reach with partnerships in ASEAN countries, the US, France, and Canada.
HCU’s legacy continues as it strives to become a top regional application-oriented university, contributing significantly to local economic and social development.
